The Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA) Announces Management Transition

After nearly ten years of dedicated service as Manager of the Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA), Mr. Anders Brodje has informed the Board of his decision to conclude his tenure with the Association later this year.

Since joining the BSA in August 2016, Anders has played a central role in the development and day-to-day management of the Association while also serving as an important representative of the BSA within the international maritime community. Over the course of his tenure, he has worked extensively to strengthen the Association’s international standing, representing the interests of Bahamian shipping in engagements with the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and numerous other international maritime forums and industry discussions. At the same time, he has worked closely with our members and maintained the strong and highly valued relationship between the BSA and the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA), ensuring that the Association continues to serve as an active and respected voice for the Bahamian shipping sector internationally.

On behalf of the Board, BSA Chairman, Capt. Domenico Rognoni would like to express his sincere gratitude to Anders for the professionalism, commitment, and leadership he has demonstrated over these past years. His contribution to the continued development, international reputation, and strategic positioning of the BSA has been significant, and the Board sincerely thanks him for the dedication and service he has given to the Association over the past decade.

Following careful consideration and as part of our succession planning process, we are pleased to share that the Board of Directors has appointed Mr. Simon Church as the Association’s incoming Manager.

Simon brings with him extensive international maritime experience and a strong background in shipping policy, maritime affairs, regulatory engagement, and international stakeholder relations. Throughout his career, he has held senior advisory and leadership positions across the maritime sector, providing him with both strategic insight and operational understanding that the Board believes will serve the Association exceptionally well moving forward.

Simon will be formally introduced to the wider international shipping community during the International Chamber of Shipping Board of Directors Meeting in mid-September 2026, following which he will also visit the BMA for a formal introduction and to begin establishing the close working relationship which remains so important between our two organizations.

Anders will formally conclude his role as Manager of the BSA at the BSA Annual General Meeting on 30 September 2026, marking the completion of what the Board has sought to ensure is a carefully planned and professionally managed transition process.

The Board is confident that Simon’s appointment, together with the structured transition process now underway, will ensure the continued strength and stability of the Association while allowing us to build upon the strong foundation established over many years.

We warmly welcome Simon to the Association and look forward to working with him in the years ahead.
