BSA aim to take a proactive role representing shipowners in the work establishing regulation on GHG.
The process of agreeing on GHG reduction measures has been ongoing at the IMO for several years. Multiple interests are at play and most if not all IMO Members have a stance on the matter.
The EU27 already has the ETS, but will they agree to abolish their system once an IMO scheme is in place? What type of economic measures will the Island States agree to? What role does the Bonn Agreement play?
This year’s Keynote address theme is “Regulating the reduction of GHG- what are the forces at play and what can shipowners expect?”.
Keynote speaker is Mr. Tianbing Huang, Deputy Director, Sub-Division of Protective Measures, Marine Environment Division, IMO
