BMA celebrates 30 years of service, innovation, and global impact!

This year marks a major milestone as The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) celebrates 30 years of service, innovation, and global impact. Established in 1995, the BMA has grown into one of the world’s leading maritime administrations, built on values of progress, honor, and service.

From its early years, The BMA has played a pivotal role on the global maritime stage, with The Bahamas registry now ranked as the world’s 4th largest flag by the commercial value of fleet. The BMA has been distinguished for its industry collaborations, regulatory leadership, and technological advancement, earning global recognition and maintaining high standards in safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.

This anniversary holds special meaning for the Bahamas and for the Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA) in particular, as it was the BMA that established our association in 1997 and has continued to work alongside us in representing the interests of the registry.

As stated by Capt. Dominico Rognoni, Chairman of the BSA: “Together, we’ve built a strong foundation for shipowners under the Bahamian flag, and we look forward to continuing our shared mission of excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth in the decades to come.”
