The Board of Directors of the Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA) and a delegation from the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) had the honor to meet with the Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Philip Davis, and the Bahamian Minister of Transport and Energy Hon. JoBeth Coleby- Davis, on February 18, 2025, at the Office of the Prime Minister in Nassau.
The discussions focused on key maritime industry priorities including digitization, and The Bahamas’ leadership at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The BSA delegation, led by Chairman Domenico Rognoni, SVP at Carnival Cruise Line, included members of the BoD including Anne Liversedge, Legal Counsel at Teekay Tankers Ltd., Kenneth Engstrom from SunStone Ships, Inc., Claes Berglund from Stena Line Group, Henrik Andersen from MUR Shipping DMCC and Capt. Rajesh Dhadwal from Campbell Shipping.
BMA representatives, led by Chairman Jacqueline Simmons, reaffirmed the Authority’s focus on regulatory enhancements and workforce development, including cadet training programs for young Bahamians. This engagement underscores the shared commitment of the BMA and BSA to driving innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector while ensuring The Bahamas remains a leading global maritime nation.
