The Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA) Explores Carnival’s Mardi Gras Under the Leadership of Capt. Domenico Rognoni

The Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA) is very fortunate to have Capt. Domenico Rognoni, Senior Vice President of Carnival Cruise Line, as its Board’s Chairman. Capt. Rognoni instigated and facilitated a visit to one of Carnival’s cruise ships, the Mardi Gras, during her call in Nassau. His invitation was greatly appreciated by us all.

Together with the Board of the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) and representatives from the Department of Environmental Health Services, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), the Utilities Regulation and Competition Authority (URCA), International Ship and Port Facility Security, the Bahamas Maritime Cadet Corps, and the LJM Maritime Academy, the ship’s Captain, Officers, and crew took time to show us both the public areas of the ship and a behind the scenes tour of the bridge, engine control room, and the innovative solutions for dealing with hotel and marine operations. We also had the opportunity to engage in an insightful Q&A session with the Senior Officers.

The BSA would like to thank Captain Giuseppe Giusa, Chief Engineer Antonio Colotti, and Hotel Director Carlos Santos De Mello for their warm welcome and utter professionalism. Visiting such a well-run ship was an exceptional experience, and we wish the crew fair winds and following seas in all their future endeavors.
