The Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA) holds its autumn Board Meeting in London
The Bahamas Shipowners Association (BSA) held its autumn Board Meeting in London on October 16-17, with the pinnacle of the two days being the 28th Annual General Meeting (AGM), which took place at Trinity House, London.

This year’s AGM was well attended, with participants joining both in person and online from various parts of the world. The meeting was notably addressed by the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) Chairman, Ms. Jacqueline Simmons, who emphasized the important role the BSA plays in representing shipowners registered with the Bahamas flag. Ms. Simmons also highlighted the work of the BMA in maintaining its position as a top-quality flag.

The BSA Chair Capt. Domenico Rognoni led the meeting, discussing the significance of active membership and how the BSA is intensifying its efforts to increase visibility and communication with its Members through the launch of a new website and by being active on social media.
Mr. Tianbing Huang, Deputy Director, Sub-Division for Protective Measures, Marine Environment Division, at the International Maritime Organization (IMO)
Mr. Tianbing Huang, Deputy Director, Sub-Division for Protective Measures, Marine Environment Division, at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), gave an insightful and much-appreciated presentation on the developments regarding GHG reduction measures and progress being made at the IMO, addressing both the achievements and foreseeable hurdles to be overcome. The numerous questions that followed Mr Huang’s presentation highlighted his expertise, as he provided informative yet diplomatic responses.
In keeping with tradition, BMA Deputy Chairman Mr. Peter John Goulandris had the honor of sharing some closing remarks with the audience.
The AGM also saw the re-election of several current Directors, along with the election of Ms. Anne Liversedge of Teekay Tankers and Mr. Dimitris Fafalios of Fafalios Shipping as new Directors to the BSA Board. With the stepping down of four long-standing Directors, Capt. Domenico Rognoni noted that Members who are interested in joining the Board are encouraged to submit their interest. He also highlighted that the composition of the BSA Board should reflect the current Membership from a domain perspective as well as a geographical point of view.
